Hoancoming
Hoancoming is bringing the Milwaukee River to life on Saturday, August 17, the second annual public fundraising event to light The Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge. By day, the riverwalk will be bustling with activities hosted by community partners. By sunset, you’ll want to be part of the Hoancoming boat parade, which concludes under the Hoan Bridge with epic views of a fireworks, drone, and light show. Reserve your spot to celebrate! We hear the $99 tickets on DJ Shawna’s Good Vibes Cruise are going fast. From 2 to 4 p.m., families are invited to participate in the celebrations at Pere Marquette Park at the MKE With Kids stage.

Deer District Summer Concert Series
The Deer District is hosting a summer concert series in the Beer Garden through the end of September. All concerts are free and open to the public, and food and drink specials will be available at Deer District establishments. Concerts are held on Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. with acts including Joe Wray, Cigarette Break and more. See the full schedule here.

BEYOND THE BRIDGE:
A SOLUTION TO HOMELESSNESS On Thursday, August 1, you are invited to attend a free screening of “BEYOND THE BRIDGE: A Solution to Homelessness” at the Varsity Theater (1326 W Wisconsin Ave.). The film was made to spark community-wide conversations about how to solve homelessness, and Milwaukee’s Housing First Strategy is discussed in the film. REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION: JULY 15-18
On Friday, June 21, the US Secret Service announced the official security zones for the 2024 Republican National Convention taking place at venues in Westown on July 15 to 18. The map provided outlines of two distinct zones. The yellow zone allows for pedestrian and vehicular traffic without the need for special passes. Vehicles entering this area will need to be searched at one of the five designated vehicle access points, so parking outside of the perimeter and walking in is encouraged. VEL R. PLAZA NOW OPEN
The new Vel R. Phillips Plaza development at Wisconsin Avenue and Vel R. Phillips Avenue is now open for the public to enjoy. City of Milwaukee leaders gathered on Friday, June 28 for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Actual Fractals, Acts I & II bring together the work of distinguished artists from diverse backgrounds whose sculptures touch on concerns, pastimes and pleasures that shape contemporary life, here and in the world beyond.
